This a staff and student group chaired by Professor Helen Gunter, that meets regularly to discuss policy issues following readings of particular papers. Recently, we have been discussing the meaning and possible impact of the “Big Society”. This lead onto a discussion of student voice and we are currently looking at research issues to do with student voice; especially the implications of various theoretical frameworks, e.g. Bernstein, Bourdieu, Foucault and the radical education history presented by Michael Fielding.
