The reading groups are due to restart when the feverish excitement of the new term begins to subside, around the beginning of October.
The merged groups will be splitting apart again into a Bourdieu strand and a socio-cultural historical activity type strand (yes we need a snappier name for that one – send suggestions). These groups are expected to meet on alternate Tuesdays, around 4:00 – 5.30, with post-session socialising at Kro most weeks.
The Bourdieu group is likely to read “Weight of the world: Social suffering in contemporary society”. You can download that from here:
The other group will likely continue with some Bakhtin/Volosinov before moving on to more Leont’ev/Vygotsky. Volosinov’s ‘Marxism and the philosophy of language’ is available here:
