PGRs 2011: Welcome (back)!

It’s that time of year again:  The September rush for the academic world where students (new and returning) collide during a mad month of organisational inductions and hellos.

So, to this I add my own greeting to all: “Welcome!”

My name’s Eljee Javier and I’m the administrator for this blog as well as a fellow PGR at The School of Education.  If you’re brand new to the University of Manchester I hope your year here will be a fantastic one and if you’re returning, I hope your summer was good!

The PGR Blog is new for 2011 and was created in response to concerns raised in the PGR Student Questionnaire (2011) where students voiced their request for a “one-stop-shop” to find information.   It can be difficult to find what you’re looking for amidst all the info online and so this blog was created as a way to gather what is directly relevant to PGRs at The School of Education and put it one place where it’s easily accessible.

Events, seminars, training – these will be featured on the blog alongside information about your fellow PGRs (current and alumni).  You can also use the blog as a platform to present your research or advertise an event…for free! There are many possibilities for you to have your say.  For more ideas have a look at our flyer, have a look around the blog itself or feel free to get in touch with your ideas.

Lastly if you’re on the go and don’t have time to get to the website you can follow the blog on Twitter (@PGRSchoolofEd) to receive up-to-date information whenever a new blog post is published.

So going into 2011 it’s my hope that this online space will be a helpful tool during your time here.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Thanks, and have a great year!
